On Nov. 18, the United Methodist Church’s North Georgia Conference held a “Special Called  Session” in Athens, in which they voted to grant 262 congregations’ desire to divide from the Church.

Rucker makes a decision on his future

Former Hart County and current UNC defensive lineman Kaimon Rucker announces his plans for 2024. Rucker, who is in his senior year at the University of North Carolina, took his announcement to his social media with a video and a caption that states: “onto the next chapter… keep choppin’.

Freshman guard Kurston Curry’s 35 points helped the Dogs end their three-game skid with a win over Athens Christian, and gave them momentum heading into the McDonald’s Shootout. Hart canceled their game in the Dorman Invitational up in South Carolina on the weekend of Dec. 2.

Georgians Stand to Lose Freedom to Boat on Georgia’s Streams

A recent study conducted by a Georgia House of Representatives committee has raised concerns among the state’s river enthusiasts. The House Study Committee on Fishing Access to Freshwater Resources was tasked with clarifying where Georgians can legally fish on the state’s many freshwater streams.

Wife of the year

While I love watching my children open their presents on Christmas morning, at 46-years-old it’s rare that I get excited about opening a gift of my own. I don’t need or want anything, and if I do I’ll just buy it on my own. My attitude reflects most men I know.

Holidays are especially hard on the elderly

Hart County Sheriff’s Office welcomes new K9

Last week, the Hart County Sheriff’s Office welcomed a new K9 deputy to their force, a male German shepherd named Jax. He is certified in methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and ecstasy detection, as well as article location and human tracking.
