Three Dogs tabbed for All-Region honors

One senior represented the Dogs by making the All-Region team, while a junior and a freshman were named honorable mentions. Senior forward Avery Strickland collects his first All-Region team selection in his final season with the Dogs.

Lady Dogs secure a spot in the playoffs

With a win over Monroe Area in the first round of the region tournament, the Lady Dogs look to host the first round of the state playoffs with a win over Oconee County. Before the Lady Dogs entered the region tournament, they traveled to Carnesville on Feb.

Mat Dogs send five to compete at state

The Mat Dogs will send one girl and four boys to compete in the State Meet in Macon on Feb. 15-17. On Feb. 9, the Mat Dogs sent three girls to compete in Sectionals at Habersham Central, as the Top Six from Sectionals would advance to Macon.

Dogs clinch the two seed after win over Franklin County

With the win over Franklin County, the Dogs secured the No. 2 seed and clinched a spot in the state tournament. Hart traveled to Carnesville to take on the Lions of Franklin County in the Lion’s Den on Feb. 9. It was a low scoring first quarter of play, as the Dogs led 11-8.

Converted factory to provide additional 25,000 sq. feet of storage

For over fifteen years, Hartwell’s The Storage Box has offered residents a location to store their belongings in a climate controlled setting. Since opening in 2008 on West Howell St., storage units have been a popular commodity among Hart Countians.

Lake Hartwell author publishes children’s book

Lake Hartwell resident  and University of Georgia graduate Carol H. Farmer has written a new children’s book called Leo the Lovable Lab. Carol recently relocated to the lake, embracing a new lifestyle  surrounded by freely roaming animals.

Hart County Community Theatre presents “Noises Off”

The Hart County Community Theatre (HCCT) will put on their production of “Noises Off” this month and into early March, providing an opportunity for the community to support local theatre. HCCT is a completely volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization currently in its forty-fourth season.

Commissioners approve loan, discuss road damage bids

The Hart County Board of Commissioners gathered for their regularly-scheduled meeting on the evening of Feb. 13. The quick meeting included a handful of agenda items related to a moratorium extension, a revolving loan, and road damage bids.
