Polar Plunge to celebrate 30 years March 7

By Madison Linton news@thehartwellsun.com The Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence (NEGACDV) will hold its 30th annual Polar Bear Plunge and Winter Festival, the council’s largest fundraiser, on March 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gum Branch MEGA Ramp.

Sold out chamber banquet Friday

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce’s 76th annual chamber awards gala will be attended by a sold out crowd Friday night.  President and CEO Amanda Brown announced the event was sold out as of Feb. 13. For those with tickets, the event is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

HCCT to hold 'Footloose' auditions

Submitted by Elizabeth Murphy  Hart County Community Theatre    Hart County Community Theatre will hold auditions for "Footloose: The Musical" Sunday, March 1 and Monday, March 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.

By Madison Linton news@thehartwellsun.com Retired Hart County firefighter, farmer and Georgia Watercolor Society member Stan O’Bannon is holding a reception for his “Brushes of the South, Through the Light of Water” exhibit tonight at the Hartwell Arts Center at 6 p.m.

HCCT brings stories to life

Joann Thornton is finding joy as she continues loving life after the loss of her husband, Harry, a little over one year ago. Some of her joy is found fellowshipping with her fellow members at the Hart County Senior Center, where she used to serve as a driver. Creating ongoing discussions

Following a joint called meeting Feb. 5, the Hartwell City Council and Hart County Board of Commissioners are set to continue discussing items related to traffic, a potential transportation special purpose local option sales tax and housing issues during a pair of called meetings.
