Community includes more than just homeowners

Recently, there have been some negative comments made of renters in public forums in Hart County. At a recent county commissioners’ meeting, a man speaking during public comment labeled renters as unsavory, potheads who he didn’t want living near him and his young child.

Control what we can through frustrating COVID saga

We have a responsibility as a community to do what we can to reduce the transmission of COVID in 2022, as we did in 2021. The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported that the outbreak of the omicron variant has reached our state.

Stetson is a dreamer

Long before he could shake a red and black pompom, Stetson Bennett IV was destined to be a Georgia Bulldog.  Three days before the future quarterback was born in 1997, his mom was sitting in Sanford Stadium, shaking her red and black pompom. Both of No.

Resolutions for 2022 we ‘can’ all keep

My predecessor, who I have a lot of respect for, wrote a column this time a year ago titled “New Year’s resolutions I won’t keep,” and I figured I’d keep that tradition alive with an alteration. I think a lot of us have a track record of setting goals we can’t follow through with.

Many Christmas traditions have a way of inventing themselves

Sue Crawford Hirsch and Joyce Cloer Viale have not seen each other in 62 years. But they still remember to send a Christmas card every year. The same card. With 62 signatures. It all started in 1959 when Sue and Joyce were freshmen in school in Franklin, North Carolina.

The power of lists

When I was a working woman, everyday I made a list of things I needed to get done. Lunch with a volunteer, team meeting, visit nursing home, write Thankful Friday email, calls or texts to make or return.
