HARTWELL, GA - The 2023 FCA Georgia versus South Carolina Baseball Classic presented by Chick-fil-A Lavonia will be on June 1 at Tommy Carey Field at Emmanuel College.

Senior competition cheerleader wins 2023 Northeast Georgia Positive Athlete Award for cheer. On April 28, Hart County senior Kylie Seawright was tagged in a post by her mom. That was the day that she found out she had received this year’s Northeast Georgia Positive Athlete Award for cheer.

Spring football report - Week 1

Week one of Hart County football’s spring practice is under way, and the Dogs are getting back to the fundamentals. The defense could be a bright spot. This past week, players started out May 4 in just helmets and shorts and then added shoulder pads on May 5.

Healthy Kids Day shines light on healthy habits

The second annual Healthy Kids Day was hosted at the Bell Family YMCA on April 29 and was nothing but successful. Over 150 kids participated in the kids’ triathlon, and YMCA sports director Kurve Augustine said the event was a success. “It was definitely a success,” Augustine said.

Twisters shine at state

The Hartwell Twisters dance team captured multiple first place finishes at the AAU State Championship in Carrollton, Ga., on April 22. “Overall, our girls did great,” said Twisters coach Shellye Ayers. “Most age groups had 16 people in them.

Starks commits to play for Georgia Southern

Former Lady Dogs basketball star, Torrion Starks commits to Georgia Southern in her return to basketball. In 2019, Starks signed her national letter of intent with Western Kentucky University, after a successful career at Hart County. Starks looked to be the next big time star.

Special impacts were made at the Special Olympics

The Hart County Special Olympics athletes and volunteers celebrated a successful two days of fun and games with their elementary, middle, and high school athletes. The Hart County Special Olympics had back-to-back events.

Lake Hartwell Dam Run to be held Saturday

The 45th annual Lake Hartwell Dam Run will be held on May 6, at Big Oaks Recreation Center in Hartwell. One of the oldest races in Georgia, the Lake Hartwell Dam Run 5K and 10K offers a spectacular run across two states and the Lake Hartwell Dam.

HCMS boys soccer team finish season as region runner-ups

After its first winning season in four years just a season ago, the Hart County Middle School boys soccer team continued its winning ways once again, ending their season as the region runner-ups.
