Seven things to know before spring football kicks off

It’s finally that time of year. As spring sports near their end and summer is about to begin, one final sporting event is left to play for the 2022-2023 school year. That is the Hart County football spring game.

Track Dogs advance to sectionals

The Hart County track team traveled to Hebron Christian to compete in the GHSA Region 8-AAA meet on April 24 and 26. The top four finishers in each event move on to compete in sectionals. The boys placed fourth in the 4x200-meter relay and second in the 4x800-meter relay.

Webb knocks out competition in Greenville

MMA Fighter Brandon Webb from Contemporary Martial Arts of Hartwell knocks out his opponent Tony Rogers in The Showcase MMA at Double Stamp Brewery in Greenville, S.C. on April 15. After a one year absence from fighting in the ring, Webb made his return to fight Rogers.

Diamond Dogs exit playoffs after first round loss to Pickens

The Diamond Dogs complete the sweep over Monroe Area to end the regular season. They then took game one against Pickens County in the first round of the state playoffs. However, the Dogs’ season came to an end as they lost games two and three.

Soccer Dogs season ends after first round exit against Wesleyan

The Hart County boys soccer team fell to Wesleyan in the first round of the state tournament 7-1. With the loss, it will end the Dogs season with a record of 10-8, 2-3. The Dogs made the trip down to Wesleyan to take on the Wolves in the first round of the state tournament.

Lady Dogs eliminated at sectionals after back-to-back losses

The Hart County slow-pitch softball team dropped both games at sectionals, to Cherokee, 18-3 and to Elbert County, 11-6. Both losses eliminated the girls and ended their season. The Lady Dogs faced Cherokee in game one of sectionals, but unfortunately couldn’t get enough runs to come across.

HCMS Golf teams earns 2023 region runner-ups

At the Northeast Georgia middle school region golf tournament held on March 28 at Arrowhead Golf Course, both the boys and girls middle school golf teams were region runner-up champions.

FUNdamental Tennis HC to host summer events

FUNdamental Tennis HC will host a summer league, lessons, and a camp for middle school and high school players throughout the summer. The summer league will allow players to play in singles, doubles or both. The matches will be arranged by the players availability.

Tennis season ends after first round exit in region tournament

Both boys and girls tennis teams fell to Franklin County in the first round of the region tournament on Tuesday. Not only does that eliminate them from the remainder of the region tournament, but it also eliminates them from the state playoffs and ends the Racket Dogs season.
