Rucker nominated for Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

CHAPEL HILL — University of North Carolina senior defender Kaimon Rucker has been nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Rucker’s combination of athletic prowess and dedication to the community make him the ideal candidate to be selected for this prestigious honor.

YMCA basketball camp puts the fun in fundamentals

The Bell Family YMCA hosted its annual basketball camp where they brought in coaches to help teach kids the fundamentals of basketball on June 10-14.

As the summer comes to a close and school is coming quickly, fall sports are just around the corner. The football, softball, cross country, and volleyball teams at Hart County High School (HCHS) have been working hard over the summer to prepare for the 2023 season.

YMCA to host junior pickleball camp

The Bell Family YMCA will host a junior pickleball camp on July 24-28. One of the fastest growing sports globally is pickleball, and Bell Family YMCA sports director Kerv Augustin is excited to introduce a new sport to the next generation of athletes.

Twisters strike gold and silver at Nationals

The Hartwell Twisters gymnastics team went to compete at Nationals in Orlando, FL on July 1 and had eight take first place and seven taking second place in their individual events.

Two HCHS competition cheerleaders make Top 30 for Cheerleader of the Year

Rising senior cheerleaders for the Hart County High School competition cheer team, Ameila Johnson and McKinley Ivester made the Top 30 for the Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association (GCCA) Cheerleader of the Year.

YMCA to host basketball camp

The Bell Family YMCA will host a youth basketball camp on July 10-14. Bell Family YMCA sports director Kerv Augustin said with this being their second basketball camp of the summer, they want to dive deeper into fundamentals. “We are really excited about basketball camp,” Augustin said.

Little League baseball teams fall in championship

The Hart County Little League 11U and 12U baseball teams made it to the District League Championship, but ultimately fell to Franklin County in both games. “We beat Toccoa 15-0 in three innings on June 23,” Sidney Skelton, the head coach of the 11U team said.
