Mat Dogs send five to compete at state

The Mat Dogs will send one girl and four boys to compete in the State Meet in Macon on Feb. 15-17. On Feb. 9, the Mat Dogs sent three girls to compete in Sectionals at Habersham Central, as the Top Six from Sectionals would advance to Macon.

Dogs clinch the two seed after win over Franklin County

With the win over Franklin County, the Dogs secured the No. 2 seed and clinched a spot in the state tournament. Hart traveled to Carnesville to take on the Lions of Franklin County in the Lion’s Den on Feb. 9. It was a low scoring first quarter of play, as the Dogs led 11-8.

Diamond Dogs gear up for first pitch

Diamond Dogs look to gel together early before they get ready for first pitch on the road against Madison County on Feb. 13. Last season, the Diamond Dogs had seven players graduate out of the program and five out of the seven were everyday starters.

Dogs split past two games with hopes of the two seed still alive

The Dogs avoided a déjà vu moment against Oconee County after blowing a 16 point lead just days earlier against Stephens County. Hart hosted the Indians of Stephens County for senior night on Feb. 9. The Dogs got off to a good start offensively in the first half as they led at the half, 38-30.

Thirteen Mat Dogs advance to sectionals

After competing in the Region/Area Meet on Feb. 2-3, the Mat Dogs were able to advance three girls and nine boys to sectionals on Feb. 9-10. The girls traveled to Stephens County on Feb. 2 to compete in the Region/Area Meet.

Lady Dogs draw the three seed after back-to-back wins

After defeating both Stephens County and getting revenge against Oconee County, the Lady Dogs lost the coin toss and will be the No. 3 seed heading into the region tournament. Hart hosted Stephens County for senior night on Feb. 9 in the Dog Pound.

Alcohol license sparks council debate

A debate over an alcohol permit request quickly drowned out a hefty agenda at the Hartwell City Council meeting Feb. 5. Lake Hartwell Family Fun Center, a new business scheduled to open in early May at 25 Depot St., petitioned the council to receive the permit.

Hart County football releases 2024 schedule

The Hart County High School football team announced their 2024 football schedule which includes five road trips, five home games, and two first time matchups. On Jan. 30, the Dogs dropped their 2024 football schedule across all social media platforms.
