As we get ready to embark on a new year in 2025, The Hartwell Sun staff took some time to reflect back on 2024 and look back at some of the best moments throughout the year. So we dug through the archives and decided to rank the Top 5 sports moments from 2024.

Multiple Mat Dogs take over podium at Arrowhead Classic

The Mat Dogs placed in the Top Five as a team and had multiple placers in their first traditional match of the season. On Dec. 14, Hart traveled to Toccoa to compete in the Arrowhead Classic at Stephens County High School for their first traditional match of the season.

Dogs six game win streak snapped by defending state champions

The Dogs captured a big win on the road over rival Elbert County to push their win streak to six, before it was snapped by the defending AAA state champions in South Carolina — Powdersville High School in a close loss. On Dec. 14, Hart traveled to rival Elbert County to take on the Blue Devils.
