Volley Dogs start season strong

Despite facing some of the top teams in the state to start the season, the Volley Dogs have started 5-2 through their first seven games of the season.On Aug. 6, Hart opened up the 2026 season by hosting the Lady Eagles of Chestatee and the Lady Jaguars of Cedar Shoals.

Zoe Chitwood named Athlete of the Week

This week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Johnson Heating & Air, goes to volleyball’s right side hitter Zoe Chitwood. Chitwood’s strong start to the season has been recognized by her coaches, as they nominated her to be Athlete of the Week.
Bulldog Nation came out to Herndon Stadium July 30 to get a sneak peek of what the Hart County High School and Middle School Bulldogs would look like this upcoming season. All fans who attended brought either powdered laundry detergent or cases of water bottles for the teams to use during the season. HCHS now prepares to host Oglethorpe County Aug. 7 for the first of two scrimmages with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. Photo by Benjamin London.

Two Hart County High School cheerleaders were named to the Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association’s Top 30 for Cheerleader of the Year.On July 6, the GCCA announced the Top 30 for Cheerleader of the Year for Classes A through AAAA and Classes AAAAA through AAAAAAA.

Hart County High School’s wrestling team helped continue to grow its program by hosting their inaugural Youth Wrestling Camp.On July 17, the HCHS wrestling team hosted their inaugural Youth Wrestling Camp in the newly renovated Mat Room in the old JROTC building down by the tennis courts.

I already have goosebumps saying this, but we are just 15 days away from Oglethorpe County coming to Hartwell for the first of two scrimmages and 29 days away from the Dogs kicking off the 2026 season in Hartwell against Habersham Central.
