On June 6, the Hartwell City Council heard a business proposal to establish a cryptocurrency mining farm at the old Tenneco plant in Hartwell. Council reacted by placing a 90-day moratorium on crypto-mining farms, citing a desire to get a better understanding of the topic.

Commissioner elections certified; winners react

The votes in Hart County have officially been certified, cementing Frankie Tealsey and Jeff Brown as the sole candidates for seats of the Hart County Board of Commissioners.
As the incumbent for the District 2 seat, Teasley defeated two other candidates with 53.

Man drowns in lake after leading police on chase

A South Carolina man drowned in Lake Hartwell Monday after he jumped into the lake from a bridge at the Hart County/South Carolina line while eluding sheriff’s deputies.
The body of Akeem O. Lukie, 31, of Greenwood, S.C., was recovered from the lake early Tuesday morning.
