The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: May 18 •Kristi Jackson Hurley, 35, was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking and disorderly conduct. •Markale Martin, 25 of Hartwell, was arrested and charged with battery and three counts of cruelty to children.

Property Owners talk fishing

The Hart County Property Owners Association had a departure from its regular May meeting. They invited Hartwell’s Captain Cephus McRae from Nuts and Bolts of Fishing (pictured above). He brought his own boat, lots of rods and lures, equipment, and his fishing dog Buck.

Man killed in wreck

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 12 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 in reference to a single-car car accident on Grace Baptist Church Road. Cody Browning, 28, of Hartwell died at the scene, according to sheriff Mike Cleveland.

Picnic held in Hartwell for EMS appreciation week

National EMS Week was May 15-21 and organizers held a picnic in appreciation of those in Hart County who make such a huge impact in our community. The picnic included a petting zoo among other entertainment.

A car chase through Hart County resulted in a drug bust and the arrest of a Hartwell man on Saturday, May 14.

Hart superintendent earns state award

Hart County Charter System Superintendent Jay Floyd is a recipient of the 2022 Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) President’s Award.

This Memorial Day, May 30, the Hartwell American Legion Post 109 will hold a Memorial Day Service at the Veteran’s Memorial Park on the courthouse square to remember Hart County’s fallen heroes. The service will be held at 11 a.m.
