Lavonia — A familiar face has taken command of Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post 52.
Sgt. 1st Class Richard Camran Fleming, who was one of the troopers who opened the post in 2015, was promoted to commander June 16.
“It’s an achievement,” Fleming said.

Hartwell celebrates Pre-Fourth

The annual Pre-Fourth Extravaganza took place in Hartwell on Saturday, arguably the most notable festival weekend each year.
A record amount of more than 160 vendor booths attended the parade and market portion and a similarly large crowd made its way to Hartwell for the festivities.

Charter System buys 67-acre plot for ‘future growth’

The Hart County Charter System is purchasing 67.82 acres on Bowman Highway for “future growth,” according to superintendent Jay Floyd.
In a called meeting on June 27, the Hart County Board of Education approved entering into contract between G.F. Parker Inc.
