Community ‘adopts’ teachers under new Charter System initiative

Hart County’s new superintendent Jennifer Carter has implemented the 7 Mindsets program within the Hart County Charter System with a focus on giving to others. The 7 Mindsets is a multi-million dollar program designed to uncover how people found happiness, success, meaning, and purpose in life.

Professor: Corn snakes harmless ‘ambassadors’

The famed movie character Indiana Jones had what is called among psychologists ophidiophobia, which is an extreme fear of snakes. One university professor, however, wants people to let one snake fall off of people’s fear list so they can help keep rodents under control.

On Saturday, August 20, the second Northeast Georgia Ag Expo commenced at the Hart County Agriscience Center with “fantastic” success, bolstering local farmers’ confidence in getting ahead of anti-agriculture messaging.

Meth bust leads to pair of arrests

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported last week a sizable drug bust that led to the arrest of two women. Christy Henson, 41, and Samantha Jo Woods, 30, were arrested Aug.

‘Scammed’: VFW ‘preyed upon’: Lavonia commander accused of stealing valor, money, lying about daughter having cancer

A woman arrested on charges of falsely representing herself as a veteran allegedly lied about her child’s health issues too. Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said it was his understanding that Gabrielle Beutler admitted through investigative interviews that her child never had cancer.

Volleydogs face adversity in first week

The Hart County Volleyball team started last week with two wins at home before playing some tough matches on the road. On Thursday, Aug. 11, the Volleydogs faced Tallulah Falls and Elbert County at home. The first set against Tallulah started shaky for Hart, who went down, 7-2, early.
