Hartwell Makers Festival coming Oct. 23

Creativity will be on sale later this month with the new Hartwell Makers Festival. On Oct. 23, Hartwell’s Stephanie Crump will be hosting a new exclusive festival for creators and artists alike to showcase their work.

City, business owners reach plan to alleviate trash issues in crowded alley

Adjacent business owners and the city of Hartwell have come up with a plan to deal with trash on Constitution Alley. City manager Jon Herschell said the city has been trying to come up with a solution to eliminate the trash cans in the alley.

Hungry birds have always been a problem for farmers. Sometimes the birds ate so much corn or wheat that a farmer and his family would not have enough food to last through the winter. So, for more than 3,000 years, farmers have responded with the use of scarecrows.

BOC approves regulations for building homes

The Hart County Board of Commissioners took the first steps to help ensure homes are built to code in Hart County. The board approved additions to the building regulations and construction codes ordinance after the third and final reading of the ordinance.

Man charged with felonies after alleged car chase

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office apprehended the man who allegedly evaded police in a vehicular chase on Friday, Oct. 1. Hart County sheriff Mike Cleveland said the office arrested Kristopher Harlow, 23, on Sunday morning, Oct. 10 after receiving a tip on where he was located.

Candidate forum scheduled; early voting opens

The Concerned Citizens Group of Hartwell is sponsoring a candidate forum at the Hart County Library on Tuesday, Oct. 19. The meeting at 6 p.m. will be the public’s opportunity to meet the 11 candidates running for City of Hartwell elected positions.

Hart fighters take medals in Spartanburg
