Bulldogs beat E. Jackson on senior night

Hart County reignited its’ offense on the coldest night of the season to put up 52 points on region opponent East Jackson. The Bulldogs were on fire against the Eagle defense and clinched a playoff spot after beating region opponent East Jackson 52-18 on Oct. 29 in Herndon Stadium.

1944: Three brothers, who were all former Hart County residents, died within a short time of each other, leaving only their wives to carry on their legacies. Dr. Charles Nelms died suddenly at age 53 while on his way to a local pharmacy in Athens, GA.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: Oct. 19 •Quatavious Jacobs, 28, of Stone Mountain, was arrested and charged with speeding 69 in a 55, theft by receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of firearm or weapons.

TORCH, HCCT receive grant

TORCH of Hartwell, Inc. and the Hart County Community Theatre is pleased to announce the organizations have jointly been awarded a Georgia Council of the Arts, Vibrant Community Grant for $5000. Torch and HCCT competed against 57 grants applications.

Allowing the annexation of properties into the city became the topic of debate again at the Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 26. An annexation request for a property on Ridge Road transitioned into a debate on whether they should allow the city to continue annexing property.

Hart EMC surprised 19 Hart County teachers with Bright Ideas Grants on Oct. 12. There were winners selected at every school in the Hart County Charter System totalling $11,102 for teachers to use in the classroom.
