Sue Crawford Hirsch and Joyce Cloer Viale have not seen each other in 62 years. But they still remember to send a Christmas card every year. The same card. With 62 signatures. It all started in 1959 when Sue and Joyce were freshmen in school in Franklin, North Carolina.

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.” Yes, indeed. And it’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas, too. Thirty-eight Christmases ago, our younger son, Eric, was quoted by radio personality Paul Harvey. I had been sending him a weekly edition of our newspaper.

Photography agency opens downtown

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and photographer Shalisha Lewis has moved SL Photography to Hartwell to start the conversation. In early December, Lewis and her husband Darryl opened their photography studio in Hartwell at 8 Benson St.

Habitat for Humanity applies for grant for Rome, Richardson projects

Contractors could be seen renovating a roof that had fallen out of repair along Rome Street Monday morning. The workers were sent to 150 Rome Street by Habitat for Humanity who is currently applying for the 2022 Community Home Investment Program (CHIP) grant.

BOC extends moratorium
