HC Alumni presents at State Teacher of the Year Gala

Former Hart County High School STAR Student/Valedictorian of 1999, Tanya Hudson (“Tanya Martin” while attending HCHS) represented the Clarke County School District at the recent Georgia Teacher of the Year Conference and Gala.

The Hart County High School Electrathon racing team captured first place at the 2nd Annual Franklin/Hart May Day Mayhem Rally over the weekend.

Full ‘STEAM’: Schools hold tech showcase

Hart County High School (HCHS) hosted a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) Showcase on Thursday, May 16, in the high school gymnasium, highlighting the work of students from across the school system.

Cars & Guitars, Lake Hartwell Music Festival to return May 28

Hartwell will kick off the summer with two large-scale events held Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, May 28, the town will host both the Cars & Guitars Festival and the Lake Hartwell Music Festival. Cars & Guitars will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Newest restaurants detail opening plans

Three restaurants will be opening their doors in Hartwell in the next few months. WillaDean’s Tavern, a southern-style kitchen on Reed Creek Highway, has already served customers in “soft openings” over the past few weekends with a shorter menu. “We’ll also be expanding to our full menu this week.

Hart Track Dogs qualify for 3A state championships

Several Track Dogs secured a spot in the GHSA 3A State Track and Field Championships this weekend. The Hart County High School track and field teams went to the sectional tournament on Friday, May 7 and competed against teams from Regions 1, 3, 4 and 8.
B. Dobson, 12, of Royston was the youngest 10K competitor and finished fourth overall in the race with a time of 43:06.6.

Best Dam Run in Georgia: Runners flock to annual race on Lake Hartwell

Hartwell was host to the 44th Annual Lake Hartwell Dam Run this past Saturday. Runners from across the southeast, and even one from as far as Arizona, gathered for the 5K and 10K road races that cross the Hartwell Dam.
