When we think about Hartwell in its buzzing zenith, it is impossible to ignore the early-to-mid-summer when the lake gets warm and patriotic holidays and events like Pre-Fourth and Cars & Guitars dominate our weekends and give our local businesses a reliable boost.

Hartwell woman authors children’s book about late friend

People grieve over loved ones in different ways and self expression through writing is certainly one way for some. By recently publishing a children’s book about her late best friend, Hartwell resident Emily Thompson took that coping mechanism to another level.

Hart County High School students awarded national academic honors

Last week, Hart County High School recognized multiple students who received national academic awards this year. Six AP Scholars and three College Board National Recognition Program awardees were recognized by Principal Kevin Gaines on Aug. 31.

‘Weekend of Hart’ set for Saturday

Thursday edit:   Most of the Weekend of Hart activities have been postponed due to the forecasted flooding rain this weekend. Weekend of Hart will be moved to the following Saturday, Sept. 17. Direct any questioning to information@harthabitat.org. In addition, the 5K will be all virtual.

Hart Co. 4-H’ers gain hands-on experience in agricultural engineering

Story submitted Eleven middle school 4-H’ers from Hart County attended “Mission Make-It” at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on August 20. This immersive learning experience focused on agricultural engineering and offered hands-on engineering activities, with a 2022 theme of “Rooted in Agriculture.
