Oconee serves Volley Dogs first region loss while Hart served Franklin their first

The Volley Dogs swept the competition at North Oconee Sept. 7. Then split in their first region game of the season at Oconee County Sept. 12 Hart ended last week with a trip to Bogart to take on North Oconee and Temple.

Cross Country teams take 15th and 21st at North Oconee

The Hart County High School boys and girls cross country teams traveled to North Oconee High School Aug. 31 to compete in the 2023 Flying Biscuit Cafe Invitational, where the boys placed 15th and the girls placed 21st.

Dogs to host Lions in Hartwell

After Hart’s first win of the season, the Dogs will have to face one of the toughest opponents in the state of South Carolina – the Lions of Daniel. Hart County and Daniel do not have a lot of history between the two schools, as their first meeting was just a year ago over in Central, S.C.

Softball drops first region game in extras

After Hart had a 4-0 lead heading into the sixth inning, Monroe Area scored four in the sixth and seventh inning to force extras. Then piled on six more runs en route to beat the Lady Dogs, 10-4. The Lady Dogs got off to a hot start in the first inning.

Volley Dogs increase their win streak to 9

After Hart’s two set wins over Stephens County and Pendleton Sept. 5, the Volley Dogs increased their win streak to nine games. In Hart’s first match, they took on region opponent Stephens County in a non-region matchup.

Rucker catches the eye of national media

Hart escapes Apalachee with first win of the year

The Dogs took their first road trip of the year and escaped with a 17-10 win over the Wildcats of Apalachee Sept. 1. After an 0-1 start to the season, Hart looked to rebound and return to its winning ways versus Apalachee. Hart won the toss and deferred to the second half.

Hartwell Main Street’s annual scarecrow bash is coming soon. Registration forms are now available and are due no later than Sept. 30. Scarecrow bash participants may begin placing scarecrows Sept. 30 and must maintain them throughout the month of October.

Fall is just around the corner and Hartwell’s Main Street is once again sponsoring the annual Scarecrow Bash. Each year members of our community decorate scarecrows around town to celebrate the season and will be judged by the most creative designs.
