Volley Dogs win in a thriller against North Oconee

After winning the first two sets, the Volley Dogs lost the third set. Hart was able to rally back and capture the win in the fourth set over the Lady Titans of North Oconee. Hart hosted North Oconee in the Dog Pound Sept. 28 in a best of five set match.

Senior running back Nori Moore’s five rushing touchdowns propels the Dogs to start region play with a 40-14 win over Franklin County. Hart County made the 20 mile drive from Hartwell to Carnesville to take on the Lions of Franklin County. The Lions won the toss and deferred to the second half.

Fourteen high school bands – made up of more than 900 students – from across Georgia and hundreds of their fans and families descended on Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium Saturday for the first Pridelands Marching Contest. The contest was sponsored by the Franklin County Marching Pride.

Hartwell Main Street and the Hart County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Sunrise Gypsy Beauty Bar to town with a ribbon cutting ceremony October 3 in honor of their grand opening. A rousing crowd was on hand to welcome the beauty salon, located at 50 South Carter St. to the local community.

On September 27, the Hart County Board of Education announced its intention to increase property taxed levied in 2023 by 3.74 percent over the rollback millage rate. The board of tax assessors is required to review the assessed value of taxable property in Hart County.

Hartwell proposes salary increase for employees

A significant salary increase for city employees coupled with a rollback of the millage rate for property owners were several of the highlights from the City of Hartwell’s proposed 2024 budget. The budget was presented for its first reading during a meeting of the Hartwell City Council October 2.

Lady Dogs in “do or die” situation without a region win

The Lady Dogs continue to search for their first region win after dropping games on the road to Monroe Area and Franklin County. Hart made the lengthy trip to Monroe Area Sept. 21 to take on the Lady Purple Hurricanes. Monroe Area got off to a strong start leading 4-0 at the end of the second.
