After defeating both Stephens County and getting revenge against Oconee County, the Lady Dogs lost the coin toss and will be the No. 3 seed heading into the region tournament. Hart hosted Stephens County for senior night on Feb. 9 in the Dog Pound.

As the 2024 tax season began Jan. 29, the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Criminal Investigation (CI) Atlanta Field Office urged taxpayers to do their research when deciding who their tax professional will be.

Hartwell’s Rucker named top student at Athens Tech

Hartwell native Nicholas Rucker was named a top student at Athens Technical College (ATC), the highest honor achievable at the regional institution for higher learning. Rucker was recognized with three other individuals during a ceremony honoring top students and teachers Jan. 30.

On the evening of Feb. 5, the Board of Commissioners called a meeting for an appeal hearing concerning a Recreation Advisory Board (RAB) decision made last autumn. The Commissioners began the lengthy meeting by amending the agenda, adding several items to be addressed after the RAB appeal hearing.

A debate over an alcohol permit request quickly drowned out a hefty agenda at the Hartwell City Council meeting Feb. 5. Lake Hartwell Family Fun Center, a new business scheduled to open in early May at 25 Depot St., petitioned the council to receive the permit.
