Year in review: The Sun’s top ten stories of 2024

2024 was a year of celebrating tremendous milestones as so many organizations were celebrating landmark anniversaries. 2024 also brought two new public service facilities in the Hartwell fire house and the Hart County Jail.

NeSmith sworn-in to superior court

The region’s legal community gathered together Dec. 20 at the Hart County Courthouse for the swearing-in of Judge J. Christopher NeSmith to the superior court for the Northern Judicial Circuit which covers Hart, Elbert, Franklin, Madison and Oglethorpe Counties.

Hartwell, GA – On a picturesque fall afternoon, the Hart County Taxpayers & Property Owners Association (HCPOA) hosted its first Holiday Harvest charity fundraiser at Dominion Farms in Hartwell.

Celebrating the Epiphany

The holiday season is full of faith and celebration. Even though people may believe this important time begins at the start of December, for millions of the Christians, the Twelve Days of Christmas begin with the birth of Baby Jesus on December 25 and continue through the Epiphany on January 6.

Multiple Mat Dogs take over podium at Arrowhead Classic

The Mat Dogs placed in the Top Five as a team and had multiple placers in their first traditional match of the season. On Dec. 14, Hart traveled to Toccoa to compete in the Arrowhead Classic at Stephens County High School for their first traditional match of the season.
