My former boss and good friend Gary Jones passed away unexpectedly last week. His heart just stopped beating. Arrhythmia, they said. I first met Gary when he was named publisher of The Elberton Star & Examiner. They were looking for a new managing editor.

Warm & Thankful coat drive underway in Hartwell

A local group for mothers is holding a coat drive and swap to keep children warm this winter. The Warm & Thankful Coat Drive/Coat Swap will be held Nov. 16 and 17 from 6 to 8:30 p.m at the Bowersville Community Center.
