Lake Hartwell hosts Bassmaster Classic

Lake Hartwell played host to the 2022 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic this past weekend. Jason Christie, a 48-year-old professional from Pak Hill, Okla., took the first place spot with a final-day limit of 17 pounds, 9 ounces.

Boys tennis continue losing streak, girls get first win

The Hart County High School tennis teams played three opponents last week before having two called off this week. On Monday, Feb. 28, Hart played Stephens County in Toccoa. The boys team lost 4-1 with only the No. 2 doubles team getting a win.

Track teams take podium finish

Both track and field teams placed in the top three at the 12th Annual Eagle Invitational 2022. The boys team finished second overall while the girls finished third at East Jackson High School on March 5. Madison McClane took silver in the girls high jump with a height of 5-0.

Diamond Dogs strike back

The Diamond Dogs split two games last week before getting rained out this Tuesday. The Hart County baseball team host Jefferson on Wednesday, March 2. The Dragons had just beaten the Dogs, 10-0, in a game called short because of the score difference.

Pine Tree Garden Club spruces up Blue Bird Trail

Pine Tree Garden Club members were doing some spring cleaning around the Reed Creek area. It’s that time of year, when club members visit the five points area to clean out bluebird boxes located on the fence post areas.
