Historical Museum looking to increase membership, funds

The Historical Society is currently working on plans to increase awareness, funds and membership in support of the Hart County Historical Museum located at 31 E. Howell Street.

Williamson picks up 1,000th assist as Volley Dogs are on a roll

The Volley Dogs ran through two private schools in the home opener Aug. 17, while also picking up two wins on their road trip to Cedar Shoals Aug. 22. Hart hosted its season opener against Lake Oconee Academy and Monsignor Donovan.

Cross Country took on NEGA Championship at Athens Christian

The Hart County High School boys and girls cross country team traveled to Athens Aug. 19. As both teams competed in a 5K for the Northeast Georgia Cross Country Championships at Athens Christian Academy. For the boys, junior Nate Harris was the top finisher for the Dogs as he finished 21st.

Lady Dogs on a 3 game win streak

The Lady Dogs avenged their loss to Elbert County at home Aug. 17, and took down Habersham Central Aug. 22 to begin a three-game win streak. A week before Aug. 10, the Lady Dogs were scarred by the 12-3 loss to the Lady Blue Devils in Elberton.

Dogs downed by Devils

The Hart County Bulldogs drop the season opener to their rivals Elbert County in Herndon Stadium Aug. 18, 24-14. As fans filled up Herndon Stadium in black, orange, white, sliver, and blue, the Dogs and Devils teed it up to begin the 94th matchup between the two schools.
Retired educator Sue Ackerman is loving life following a battle with cancer over 10 years ago. Her faith helped give her the courage to pursue a nonconventional route of cancer treatment. Through the experience, she has educated herself on the body and works to educate other people on healthy heating and living.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   Aug. 15   Artavious Blakely, 25, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with probation violation. Larry Eaton, 57, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with probation violation.

Local group of nonprofits plan 9/11 tribute weekend events

A host of local non-profit organizations have joined together to raise money while paying tribute to 9/11 and the first responder community in Hart County.
