Hart Chamber of Commerce celebrates 75 years

The Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 75th year on Tuesday evening as community members braved the rainstorm to attend—just one example of the welcoming and supportive spirit that Chamber Executive Director Lindsey Ingle found when she first moved to Hartwell.

Local historian honored local Black history

Dozens gathered to honor an intriguing piece of local Black history at Cedar Springs Baptist Church cemetery on Saturday morning.

Bell Family YMCA to bring soccer academy to Hartwell

The Bell Family YMCA is set to bring a soccer academy to Hartwell. For many years, kids from Hart County and surrounding counties in Northeast Georgia who have wanted to play club soccer have had to travel to Anderson, Clemson, Greenville, or even Athens to join a team.

Georgia entering vacation season short of game wardens

ATLANTA - With the traditional summer vacation season getting underway, Georgia continues to suffer from a chronic shortage of game wardens to serve its 2 million hunters and 600,000 to 700,000 anglers. The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) boasted 250 game wardens back in 2000.

Georgia Rivers Network Gala to honor Pres. Jimmy Carter

President Jimmy Carter will receive the River Hero award from the Georgia River Network during its annual awards gala at the Atlanta History Center on August 22. Carter will receive the award for his enduring environmental legacy for Georgia’s rivers.
