Georgia voters show strong confidence in 2024 elections

ATLANTA – A poll of Georgia voters conducted after last month’s elections showed a high level of confidence in the voting process. According to the survey of 1,541 Georgians who voted in the presidential election, 98% said they didn’t experience any problems casting a ballot. In addition, 98.

Thomas enters transfer portal

Virginia Tech running back Malachi Thomas has entered the transfer portal. Thomas, a former Hart County running back, entered his name into the transfer portal on Dec. 9 after spending the past four years in the Hokies program. Thomas played in 12 games in 2021 and three games as a starter.

Georgia economy to grow in 2025 but more slowly

ATLANTA - Georgia’s economy will continue growing next year but at a slower rate than in 2024, the dean of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business said Friday. The state’s economy is projected to grow by 2.4% in 2025, down from 3.

Republican governors urge Congress to pass Farm Bill

ATLANTA - A group of 17 Republican governors has sent a joint letter to Congress urging passage of an updated Farm Bill. The most recent Farm Bill, which federal lawmakers approved early in President-elect Donald Trump’s first term in the White House, expired in September.

Animal shelter closed for ‘updates’

LAVONIA – The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter will be closed for the first half of December to make state-mandated changes to its facilities. The closure came after the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s most recent inspection in November.

Hearn sworn-in as Emmanuel’s tenth president

On Nov. 15, Rev. Gregory K. Hearn was inaugurated as Emmanuel University’s tenth president during a campus ceremony in the John W. Swails Center. Hearn, an alumnus of Emmanuel, has served the University for 13 years and has a forward-thinking vision for its future.
