For the fall 2024 semester, the University of North Georgia (UNG) awarded more than 900 degrees and certificates to graduates. More than 650 of the graduates participated in the fall 2024 commencement ceremonies held Dec. 7 at the Convocation Center at UNG’s Dahlonega Campus.

Georgia unemployment rate up slightly in November

ATLANTA - Georgia’s unemployment rate rose slightly last month but still remains lower than the national jobless rate, the state Department of Labor reported Thursday. Georgia unemployment for November stood at 3.7 percent, up from 3.

NeSmith sworn-in to superior court

The region’s legal community gathered together Dec. 20 at the Hart County Courthouse for the swearing-in of Judge J. Christopher NeSmith to the superior court for the Northern Judicial Circuit which covers Hart, Elbert, Franklin, Madison and Oglethorpe Counties.

State tax revenues up slightly in November

ATLANTA - Georgia tax collections rose by 2.3% last month compared with November of last year, the state Department of Revenue reported Wednesday. The revenue agency brought in $2.38 billion in November, an increase of $52.9 million over the same month last year.
Over 3,200 graduates were confirmed by the University of Georgia during its fall commencement program Dec. 13. Among the graduates were four students from Hartwell.
