Former Hart County Bulldogs enter college transfer portal

The transfer portal has become madness as close to 2,000 college football players have entered their name into the transfer portal since Dec. 5. Two of those 2,000 are former Bulldogs Cane Berrong and Jalen Brown. Former tight end at Notre Dame Cane Berrong entered his name in the portal on Dec.

Basketball teams split in region opener

The Hart County Lady Dogs surge past the Lady Purple Hurricanes, 69-38 while the Boys Purple Hurricanes storm passed the Dogs, 69-44. The Lady Dogs took on the Lady Purple Hurricanes of Monroe Area first and battled back and forth in the first quarter of action.

Howard earns black belt

A Hart County High School teacher’s weight loss journey earns him a blackbelt. It was 2013 when HCHS theater teacher Seth Howard was given a pacemaker [which is a small device that is meant to help control the heartbeat]. The doctors began to push Howard to lose weight or he would eventually die.

Dogs take third at McDonald’s Shootout while also falling to T.L. Hanna

The Dogs finished third place at the McDonald’s Shootout over the weekend of Dec. 26, also falling 60-48 to T.L. Hanna on Tuesday. The Dogs kept it close in the first game in the McDonald’s Shootout versus Pendleton in which they went onto win, 51-43.

Lady Dogs crowned champions of shootout

The Hart County Lady Dogs won the McDonald’s Shootout over the weekend of Dec. 26, but dropped their first game of 2023 to T.L. Hanna on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 53-43. After the Lady Dogs had a heartbreaking loss to Elbert County on Dec. 23, they looked to get back on track after the holiday break.

Mat Dogs go 2-3 overall at White County Duals

The Mat Dogs traveled to Cleveland, Georgia on Tuesday, Dec. 20 to compete in the White County Duals where the Dogs went 2-3. The Mat Dogs faced five different teams in the White County Duals “Versus West Hall, we wrestled very well,” Mat Dogs head coach Sean Gaddy said. “We beat them 52-18.

Lady Dogs struggle in home loss but rebound against Pendelton

The Lady Dogs hosted the Lady Blue Devils on Friday, with Elbert County dominating, 82-51. The game was highly competitive in the early stages, as the Lady Blue Devils had a 19-15 lead at the end of the first quarter of play. Hart cut the deficit to one early in the second quarter.

Stanish commits to Mars Hill University

A Hart County High School student has become the first athlete to commit to a university for swimming. Senior Savannah Stanish is choosing to attend Mars Hill University and is officially the first Bulldog to ever commit to a college or university for aquatics.
