Alcohol license sparks council debate

A debate over an alcohol permit request quickly drowned out a hefty agenda at the Hartwell City Council meeting Feb. 5. Lake Hartwell Family Fun Center, a new business scheduled to open in early May at 25 Depot St., petitioned the council to receive the permit.

Hart County football releases 2024 schedule

The Hart County High School football team announced their 2024 football schedule which includes five road trips, five home games, and two first time matchups. On Jan. 30, the Dogs dropped their 2024 football schedule across all social media platforms.

The Dogs start the second half with a pair of losses to two Top 10 teams in AAA, No. 8 Monroe Area and No. 4 Hebron Christian. Hart hosted the No. 8 ranked Purple Hurricanes of Monroe Area to tip off the second half of region play.

Lady Dogs three game win streak ends with blowout loss to Hebron

After two dominant offensive performances from the Lady Dogs, the No. 1 team in AAA returned the favor in the loss to Hebron Christian. Hart hosted the Lady Hurricanes of Monroe Area on Jan. 26 to begin the second half of region play.

Mat Dogs fall in state duals

The Hart County High School Mat Dogs competed in the state duals on Jan. 19 and 20, and dropped both matches to be eliminated from the tournament.

Lady Dogs rebound after road loss

After falling to Oconee County on the road, the Lady Dogs responded with a win over Franklin County to end the first half of region play. Hart traveled down to Watkinsville to take on the Lady Warriors of Oconee County on Jan. 19.

Dogs end first half of region play 4-1

The Dogs increased their win streak to three after back-to-back wins over Oconee County and Franklin County. With the back-to-back wins, Hart ends the first half of region play in second place with a record of 4-1. Hart took the trip to Watkinsville to take on the Oconee County Warriors on Jan. 19.

Dogs start region play 2-1 with a pair of road victories

The Dogs picked up their first two region wins over the season over Monroe and Stephens. But fell to Hebron Christian and Johnson of Savannah due to third quarter woes. After Hart County canceled school on Jan. 9 for severe weather, the Dogs pushed back their match-up with Monroe Area to Jan. 10.
