Senior point guard set to lead the Lady Dogs in her final season

Senior point guard Dakota Phillips looks to play a big role in her final season with the Lady Dogs. Flashback to 2020, Phillips was named a starter as a freshman, but many people knew then that she could semester herself as one of the best to ever wear the orange and black for the Lady Dogs.

Basketball splits against Patriots in scrimmage

The Hart County High School boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Lexington to take on Oglethorpe County in a scrimmage to start the season, and split against the Patriots. On Nov. 9, the HCHS boys and girls basketball teams tipped off their season in a scrimmage game against the Patriots.

2023 Pigskin Pickin’ Champion crowned

Our final round of Pigskin Pickin’ concluded this past week, and a new champion was crowned. After a long and competitive season between our expert pickers, Living Down South’s realtor Stephanie Walker was crowned the 2023 Pigskin Pickin’ Champion, and will have a year’s worth of bragging rights.

Cross Country teams place in Top 15 at state meet

The Hart County High School boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Carrollton to compete in the 2023 GHSA AAA State Cross Country Championships, where the boys placed eighth and the girls placed 15th.

Lady Dogs to rely on senior leadership in 2023-2024 campaign

The Hart County Lady Dogs basketball team will look to rely on senior leadership to lead them to a potential historic season. A season ago, the Lady Dogs went 19-9 overall and fell to Dawson County at home in the first round of the state playoffs, 41-34.

Dogs wiped out of playoff contention by Purple Hurricanes

Hart’s late comeback against Monroe Area falls short 23-14, and ends the Dogs season. Hart traveled to Monroe Area to take on the Purple Hurricanes with playoff implications on the line, as there was a four way tie between Hart, Oconee, Monroe Area, and Hebron Christian.

Hart to move to AA starting in the fall of 2024

The Georgia High School Association [GHSA] announced on Nov. 2 the classification placement of all teams for 2024-2026. During the announcement, Hart County, Stephens County, Franklin County, and Hebron Christian will move down to AA from AAA.

Hart County athletes lead Fields of Faith

Lake Hartwell FCA hosted over 400 people during its sixth annual student led event called Fields of Faith. Hundreds of students, athletes, and adults from the Hart County community gathered for a night of fellowship, worship, and prayer during Lake Hartwell FCA’s annual Fields of Faith event.
