Dogs six game win streak snapped by defending state champions

The Dogs captured a big win on the road over rival Elbert County to push their win streak to six, before it was snapped by the defending AAA state champions in South Carolina — Powdersville High School in a close loss. On Dec. 14, Hart traveled to rival Elbert County to take on the Blue Devils.

Dogs on a five game win streak

The Dogs extended their win streak to five, winning their last three against Athens Academy twice and Washington-Wilkes. On Dec. 4, the Dogs traveled to the Classic City to take on the Spartans of Athens Academy. Hart got off to a good start leading at the end of the first quarter, 17-8.

Lady Dogs go 2-1 in three game stretch

After the Lady Dogs four game win streak was snapped on the road against Athens Christian, Hart beat Washington-Wilkes and then returned the favor and handed Athens Academy their first loss of the season in a thriller. On Dec.

Krause captures his 100th win with the Mat Dogs

Senior Mat Dog Harrison Krause picked up his 100th career high school win for Hart County in the 51-27 loss at the Franklin County Duals. On Dec. 10, Hart County traveled to Carnesville to compete in the Franklin County Duals, with Krause searching for his 100th high school win as a Mat Dog.

STATE RUNNER-UPS

For the first time in school history, the Hart County High School sideline cheer squad finished as the state runner-ups in their first attempt at the GHSA gameday cheer competition.

Thomas enters transfer portal

Virginia Tech running back Malachi Thomas has entered the transfer portal. Thomas, a former Hart County running back, entered his name into the transfer portal on Dec. 9 after spending the past four years in the Hokies program. Thomas played in 12 games in 2021 and three games as a starter.
