Cross Country teams hit personal records at UNG

The Hart County High School boys and girls cross country teams competed in the North Georgia Cross Country Invitational Sept. 16 as multiple runners hit their personal records. For the boys, senior Braydon Lane was the top finisher for the Dogs, and had a time of 16:41.

Lumpkin’s defense too much for Hart’s offense

After keeping it a one score game at the half, mistakes caused the Dogs to fall out of the game losing 30-10 to Lumpkin County on the road. Hart made the 80-mile trip up the mountain to take on the Indians of Lumpkin County. The Dogs won the toss and elected to defer to the second half.

Hebron serves a hartbreaking loss to the Volley Dogs

After defeating Madison County on the road Sept. 14 and Monroe Area at home, Hebron Christian gave the Volley Dogs their third loss of the year in heartbreaking fashion Sept. 19. Hart took a trip to Madison County to take on the Lady Red Raiders and the Lady Gladiators of Clarke Central.

Statesboro squad saves Hart County’s homecoming game

Hart County Charter System (HCCS) announced the cancellation of Hart County’s homecoming football game versus Cross Creek scheduled for Sept. 22 at Herndon Stadium. Then an hour later announced a new opponent in Bulloch Academy to fill the void.

Dogs take an unfamiliar trip to the mountains

The Hart County Bulldogs get set to make their first ever trip to Dahlonega to face Lumpkin County Sept. 15. The Indians are 3-0 to start the year, the reason for that is their run game.

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) reclassification committee met Sept. 1 to announce their initial changes about the rules for reclassification. Reclassification can always be tricky. But the biggest news that everyone knew was coming, was the elimination of Class AAAAAAA (7A).

Cross Country teams place Top 20 at North Hall Invitational

The Hart County High School boys and girls cross country teams traveled to North Hall High School to compete in the 2023 North Hall Invitational, in which the boys placed 12th overall and the girls placed 17th. For the boys, senior Braydon Lane was the top finisher for the Dogs placing 12th.

Lady Dogs struggle to find first region win

After defeating Rabun County on the road Sept. 6, the Lady Dogs dropped games to Franklin County by one run Sept. 7, and against Stephens Sept. 12. Hart was coming off of a disappointing loss in extra innings against Monroe Area before traveling to Rabun County Sept. 6.

Dogs second quarter comeback ends after third quarter mistakes

After a second quarter rally by the Dogs, the Lions of Daniel capitalized on Hart’s errors in the third quarter to capture their third win of the year, 52-21. The Dogs hosted the Lions in Herndon Stadium for the first time in program history, but the second all-time meeting between the schools.

The Volley Dogs swept the competition at North Oconee Sept. 7. Then split in their first region game of the season at Oconee County Sept. 12 Hart ended last week with a trip to Bogart to take on North Oconee and Temple.
