Tennis teams serve up 2022 season

The Hart County High School tennis teams had a rough start in their first matches of the season. Both the boys and the girls team lost 4-of-5 lines against Clarke central at home on Tuesday, Feb. 15. The boys No. 2 doubles team Justin Mooney and Ethan Yntema, won in two sets, 6-0 and 6-1.

Diamond Dogs come out swinging

  The Hart County High School baseball team won their first game of the 2022 season. The Diamond Dogs played the Athens Christian Eagles at home on Tuesday, Feb. 15 and won, 6-5. Peyton Powell led the team in hits with two, while  Nolan Dean had three RBIs.

Lady Dogs lose tough final regular-season game

By Drew Dotson Staff writer   The Hart County girls basketball team fell in an overtime thriller in its last regular-season game of the year. The Lady Dogs lost to Franklin County on the road, 48-45.

Hart wins at FCHS to finish region undefeated

The Bulldogs won a tough game against the Franklin County Lions to finish the regular season undefeated in region. The Hart County High School boys basketball team beat Franklin County, 59-55 on the road on Feb. 11.

Soccer teams play first home matches

The Hart County boys soccer team remains undefeated while the girls team is still looking for its first win. Both teams travelled to Banks County High School on Feb. 4. The boys beat the Leopards 12-3. Luis Genchi scored four goals in the blow out. Kyle Hubbard also scored a hat trick.

Six Mat Dogs set for state

After the sectionals meet this past weekend, six Mat Dogs punched their ticket to the Georgia Traditional State Tournament.

Lady Dogs move into first place

The Lady Dogs added two more wins in the home stretch of region play. The Hart County girls basketball team beat Stephens County, 63-42 at home on Friday, Feb. 4. The Dogs got off to a quick start and scored 20 points in the first quarter.

HCHS grad named Virginia Tech football equipment manager

Stewart Carter, 1989 graduate of Hart County High School, was named Virginia Tech’s new director of football equipment. Carter said his career in equipment management grew from wanting to continue to be around football after his high school days.

HCHS senior is putting together an unforgettable season

As a senior, Johnny Curry, also known as JC, has embraced the role of being a leader for the Hart County High School basketball team. “At the beginning of the season, I thought it was going to be a lot on my back, but it’s really not.
