Bulldogs sign college scholarships for sports, ROTC

Eleven Hart County High School seniors signed to compete at the college level at the spring signing day. On Wednesday, May 11, student-athletes in nine different sports signed to receive scholarships to play at 10 different colleges throughout the southeast. “It’s not an accident.

Hart Co. spring football practices underway

The 2022 Hart County High School football team is two weeks deep into its spring practices and will be capping off the spring with a scrimmage against Habersham Central High School on Friday.

Dogs crowned state Champions: Boys track team places 2nd in state; individuals take golds

The Hart County boys track and field team placed second in the 3A state championship, the highest finish in Hart County history. The Hart County boys team finished second with 78 points, only 11 points behind the champion, Westminster at the meet on May 12 in Carrolton. “It was an epic weekend.

Hart Track Dogs qualify for 3A state championships

Several Track Dogs secured a spot in the GHSA 3A State Track and Field Championships this weekend. The Hart County High School track and field teams went to the sectional tournament on Friday, May 7 and competed against teams from Regions 1, 3, 4 and 8.
B. Dobson, 12, of Royston was the youngest 10K competitor and finished fourth overall in the race with a time of 43:06.6.

Best Dam Run in Georgia: Runners flock to annual race on Lake Hartwell

Hartwell was host to the 44th Annual Lake Hartwell Dam Run this past Saturday. Runners from across the southeast, and even one from as far as Arizona, gathered for the 5K and 10K road races that cross the Hartwell Dam.

Golf team competes in area tournament

The Hart County High School boys golf team came up short of making the state tournament in Augusta. The team ended the regular season with nine wins and only two losses to Elbert  County and Habersham County.

Boys track takes gold at region

The Hart County boys track team took the gold in the region championship meet last week. The boys team finished first with a score of 187 and the girls team placed fourth overall with a score of 108.

Former Bulldog makes NFL

Hart County High School alum Anthony Turner has signed to continue his football career in the NFL. Turner, who graduated from Hart County in 2016, signed on to the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent and will be going to the rookie mini-camp on Thursday.

Baseball Season ends in Ringgold: Diamond Dogs fall in first round of state playoffs

The Hart County baseball team’s season ended at Ringgold High School after losing two  games on Friday night. The Diamond Dogs traveled to northwest Georgia to face off against the Ringgold Tigers in the first series of the state playoffs on April 29. The Dogs started off the night with a loss.

Hartwell Golf Club hosts third annual championship

Drew Dotson/ The Hartwell Sun The Hartwell Golf Club held its Third Annual Open Championship this past weekend, April 23 and 24. The Championship Flight had two teams tied for first: Brothers John Daniel and Winston Gibbs, and Mark Pruitt and Chip Mauldin.
