LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: On COVID vaccines for children

As a retired pediatric nurse practitioner, I am compelled to rebut a letter published last week speaking out against COVID vaccination for children and adolescents. Early last year, fewer than 3% of COVID-19 cases were in children.

Goals for America in the new year

Today, in America, we need the blessings of God more than ever so that we might be able to cope with a viral pandemic, a new governmental administration and a possible attack on our country by hostile nations.

Thanks for speaking up for children

In 2021, we unfortunately covered several stories involving allegations of sexual assault towards minors in our community. This says very little about Hart County and more about how seriously law enforcement and society takes these crimes in 2022.

Daddy let me drive

One is legal.  Another is legal, with adult supervision.  Six others—when they come to Grandpa’s—can’t wait to be 15 and 16.  They want to drive, drive anything.  And that’s what we do.  If it’s got a motor and a steering wheel, here we go.

A conversation with Mollie

Well, Miss Mollie, what did you think about Christmas this year? MOLLIE: I know you left me at home two times, for too long. It seemed like the whole day! ME: I’m so sorry sweet, baby girl, you know I went to see your daddy and then to the Dickersons’ for Christmas dinner with them.

Community includes more than just homeowners

Recently, there have been some negative comments made of renters in public forums in Hart County. At a recent county commissioners’ meeting, a man speaking during public comment labeled renters as unsavory, potheads who he didn’t want living near him and his young child.

Control what we can through frustrating COVID saga

We have a responsibility as a community to do what we can to reduce the transmission of COVID in 2022, as we did in 2021. The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported that the outbreak of the omicron variant has reached our state.

Stetson is a dreamer

Long before he could shake a red and black pompom, Stetson Bennett IV was destined to be a Georgia Bulldog.  Three days before the future quarterback was born in 1997, his mom was sitting in Sanford Stadium, shaking her red and black pompom. Both of No.

Lessons in faith: Self Control

2 Peter 1:3(NLT) 3By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

Pondering about stuff

To ponder is defined as: “to weigh carefully in the mind.”  Sometimes I ponder.  I ponder about all sorts of things, some more complex than others, and some, at least according to my wife, are stupid things.  She says that I sometimes think about stupid stuff.
