Shooting hospitalizes one, puts schools on lockdown

A shooting on Friday in Hartwell left one man recovering in the hospital and one behind bars. According to Lieutenant Sherrod Blackwell of the Hartwell Police Department, the police received a call about the shooting around 9:16 a.m. that day. The caller stated there had been a drive-by shooting.

Primitive weapons deer hunting season opens Saturday

The week-long Georgia primitive weapons deer hunting season begins Sat., Oct. 12. Last year, nearly 7,000 deer were harvested by 22,000 hunters, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).
