Federal COVID-19 relief funds spark debate

By Dave Williams Bureau Chief Capitol Beat News Service   ATLANTA - Legislative Democrats and advocates for low-income Georgians say the state should spend its windfall from the latest federal COVID-19 relief bill on making a full economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

Football scrimmages nixed, cheer delayed

The Hart County High School football team’s planned pre-season scrimmages for Aug. 21 and Aug. 28 won’t happen, according to the Georgia High School Association, but the regular season schedule remains unchanged.

BoE approves plans for school year

Hart County schools are set to return to the classroom on Aug. 17 with safety precautions in place, and parents will have the option to choose between in-person instruction or online learning.

Sandra Bruce battled colon cancer in 2010. When she was going through chemotherapy, her husband Johnny asked what he could do to brighten her day. Her response was she always wanted a gazebo, which he proudly built for her. If she’s not all over Hart County helping others, Sandra can be found sitting in her beloved gazebo and enjoying the scenery from her immaculate yard, or at her kitchen table in front of the big bay window watching the hummingbirds.
