Inspectors close Hartwell Speedway investigation; ‘No charges anticipated’

The State Fire Marshal’s Office reported on Monday, Aug. 30 that it completed its investigation of the July 3 Hartwell Speedway tragedy, during which a driver lost control of his race car, sending it through barriers and into the infield, killing spectator Paul Ballenger and injuring two others.

ROYSTON – A building with a lot of memories for Royston natives burned Tuesday night. A fire at the former Royce Theatre building, located on Bowers Street, was reported Tuesday about 7:20 p.m.
