The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: Nov. 23 •Hubert Manuel Pickens III, 42, of Hartwell, was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts.

Volunteers prepare 20,000 meals for Haiti

On Saturday, Nov. 27, Love Him Love Them Ministries prepared 20,000 meals for malnourished adults and children living on the impoverished island nation of Haiti.

Leard wins tightly contested city council runoff

Dan Leard will take the final seat on the Hartwell City Council after a tight final count on Tuesday night, according to unofficial results. Hart County Board of Elections results show Leard defeated opponent Toy Cynthia Wilkins 215-175 in the runoff election on Nov. 30.

1927: The Southern Bell Telephone Company completed a new line in Hartwell and the surrounding area for $36,000 in order to improve the long distance service. The company established two lines from Hartwell to Anderson, SC, and Elberton to Atlanta.

Blues Jam returns to High Cotton Music Hall

Blues fans rejoiced Saturday night as High Cotton Music Hall hosted just its second Blues Jam since returning from the pandemic. A full house at the Hartwell venue along Depot Street enjoyed adult beverages and three hours of entertainment from local musicians.

Carols at Cateechee singalong scheduled for Dec. 9

The Hart Community Chorus, The Hartwell Art Center and Cateechee Golf Club announced that Carols at Cateechee, a Community Christmas Singalong event, will be held Thursday, December 9 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Ballroom at the Cateechee Golf Club.
