Pair launches Mercy Market to combat food insecurity

Since February 2025, Mercy Market, a local food pantry, has been helping alleviate food insecurities in the community thanks to a partnership between best friends Victoria LeCroy, 28, and Brooke Bango, 30.

At first, Sylvene Fleming said she “didn’t know what to tell.” The then almost 99-year-old sat in her home off of Old Highway 29 on a Thursday afternoon – one of the days a week she travels back to Hart County from her assisted living facility in Anderson, South Carolina.
