The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: Oct. 21 • Charles Michael Davenport, 49, 21 Lucas Road, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault (HPD). • Sherre Janelle Davenport, 48, 21 Lucas Road, was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to drive within a single lane.

Middle school receives grant

Hart County Middle School received a $250 grant this week from the Publix Super Markets Charities to support their effort for the 2020-2021 STEAM education program.

Main Street gives Facade grant

The Hartwell Main Street presented Porch and Home a check in the amount of $467 for a facade grant. Business owners can apply for the matching grant which is up to $1,000. All facade grants follow the downtown Historical preservation guidelines.

Hart trooper promoted to Toccoa commander

The Georgia State Patrol has promoted Elbert County native Donnie O’Neal Saddler to Post Commander at Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.

Hartwell actor lands lead role

Hartwell’s own “Hollywood” actor, Austin Freeman, recently starred in another movie, “Who is Killing the Cheerleaders?” The Lifetime movie is about a woman named Ellie returning to teach at her hometown high school, where she was the sole survivor of attacks on cheerleaders.

Democrats, Biden supporters host rally

Hart County for Biden, in conjunction with the Hart County Democrats, held an outdoor rally Saturday afternoon in Hartwell. Organizers said it was held to encourage and support voters and candidates during the home stretch of this election cycle.

Blue Star marker receives facelift

The Blue Star Memorial on the corner of Athens and Howell Street is not new, but it did just receive a face lift thanks to Tom Stelling of Historical Marker Restorations. It’s common for people to notice the signs again after he is done restoring them, Stelling said.
