Fox Theatre awards Hart County Community Theatre urgent emergency grant

The Fox Theatre Institute (FTI), a division of Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, Inc., has awarded Hart County Community Theatre a financial grant award for $20,000 to improve the infrastructure of the building.

Hometown Butcher brings back ‘old-school’ experience

Butchers have been providing the best quality cut of meat to consumers for centuries, but with the industrial age and mass production of meat, butchers have not been as prominent as they’ve been before.
The Georgia Department of Transportation has begun working on replacing the bridge over Beaverdam Creek on State Route 8. The project will require off-site detours scheduled to begin Feb. 7.

The Georgia Department of Transportation and contractor Williams Contracting have begun working on the replacement of the existing bridge on SR 8 over Beaverdam Creek. The project includes roadway reconstruction on the approaches east and west of the bridge. The project is located approximately 1.

Elected lawmakers from the state of Georgia are currently in session at the 2023 Georgia General Assembly. State representative Alan Powell has taken the opportunity to introduce legislation he said he believes will help assure Georgians’ confidence in the voting process.

Bowersville weekend fire leaves one dead

Hart County firefighters responded to a deadly house fire Jan. 28 on Bowersville Highway.The fire killed a man who was trapped inside. At 2:15 a.m., dispatch received a call from a man who said that a fire had started in his home, and he needed help getting out.

Mat Dogs get ready for Region Area Tournament

The Hart County Mat Dogs will compete in the Region Area Tournament on Saturday, to potentially advance to state in Macon. Mat Dogs head coach Sean Gaddy preaches that the wrestlers have to consistently get better.

Soccer Dogs start the year off 1-1

The Hart County soccer teams dropped both games on the road versus Cedar Shoals, while sweeping the Leopards in the home opener versus Banks County. The teams traveled to Cedar Shoals for the season opener Jan. 27.

Lady Mat Dogs take over the podium at Stephens County

Two girls placed in the top three on Saturday as the Hart County Lady Mat Dogs competed in the Currahee Ladies Tournament in Stephens County. Mat Dogs head coach Sean Gaddy said that this was the final individual tournament before regions this upcoming weekend.

Basketball splits against Monroe Area and gets swept by Hebron

The Hart County basketball teams split games on the road versus Monroe Area while dropping both at home versus Hebron Christian. The teams had to travel to Monroe Area Jan. 27 to take on the Purple Hurricanes in the Purple Pit.
