Phillips reaches 1,000 points in her career

On Friday, Jan. 13, Hart County Lady Dog’s junior guard Dakota Phillips reached her 1,000th career point as a Lady Dog. One might not expect a freshman to start, let alone get to 1,000 points bt their junior year. Phillips saw potential and that’s all she needed.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   Jan. 10 •Robert Duncan, 37, of Comer was arrested and charged with DUI, failure to stop for a stop sign, and open container in vehicle. •Patrick Hickman, 36, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with DUI.

Triumph, tragedy in Bulldog nation

City receives federal grant for sidewalks

The Hartwell city council received $400,000 in federal grant money to begin construction on building and improving sidewalks in Hartwell.

Hart County Assistant Superintendent Brooks Mewborn went viral for starting a UGA chant on the plane ride home from last week’s national championship. Mewborn was in attendance at the 2022 college football national championship game in Los Angeles on Monday, Jan.

County receives settlement from national opioid case

The Hart County Board of Commissioners received $83,864.58 through the Janssen Settlement Agreement; a national litigation case accusing major pharmaceutical companies and drug distributors of prescribing opioids with and without the intent of addicting/poisoning its users.
