The COVID-19-related death of a resident at Hart Care Center has been reported by the Department of Community Health, but the state Department of Public Health, which monitors and reports on overall numbers of cases, hospitalizations and deaths from the virus still lists Hart County with zero.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: July 14 • David Randle Lewis, 52, 224 Clardy Drive, was arrested and charged with felony theft by shoplifting, entering automobile with intent to commit theft or felony and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers (HPD).

July 26, 1912 — Soda-drinking and tobacco-smoking residents in Hartwell could no longer find their “mornin’s dope” on Sundays. The town council in 1912 decided to enforce an ordinance banning soda and tobacco sales on Sundays in Hartwell.

Animal group completes renovations

Dogs being kept at the Hart County Humane Society will soon have a brand new covered and shaded outdoor area to enjoy and society officials are hoping the community will pitch in to help cover the cost.
