A Toccoa landmark is about to receive new life, as the Broken Bridges area in Toccoa is set to become a focal point of a 10-mile waterway trek. Broken Bridges over the Tugaloo River arm of Lake Hartwell has been a landmark along the Georgia/South Carolina border for well over 140 years.

Bald eagles thriving in Northeast Georgia, entire state

SOCIAL CIRCLE — Bald eagle nesting remains strong in Georgia, but the number of successful nests and young fledged in the northern part of the state declined this year compared to long-term averages, according to an annual Georgia Department of Natural Resources survey.
