Seventeen Dogs named All-Region

The Region 8-AAA coaches met on Tuesday, Dec. 14 and selected 17 Bulldogs to receive All-Region honors. Four Dogs made the first team All-Region honors at their respective positions.

Mat Dogs host only home meet, fall twice

On Wednesday, Dec. 14 the Mat Dogs hosted East Jackson County and Crescent High School of South Carolina in their lone home match of the season. The Dogs fell 57-22 to East Jackson and 45-22 to Crescent. East Jackson took on the Dogs first after coming off a tough loss to the Crescent Mat Tigers.

Dogs basketball teams on 2 different streaks

Hart County hit the road this past weekend, taking on Morgan County on Friday, Madison County on Saturday, and Daniel on Monday. On Friday, Dec. 9, Hart County began its long weekend with a trip to Morgan County to play in the battle of the Bulldogs.

Berrong enters transfer portal

Former Hart County and Notre Dame tight end Cane Berrong has officially entered the transfer portal. In a tweet that Berrong posted late Monday night on Dec. 12, Berrong took time to thank the Irish for making his lifelong dream come true.

Twisters compete in Peppermint Twist

The Hartwell Twisters traveled to Cumming, Georgia on Dec. 3 and 4 to compete in the Peppermint Twist. Both Twisters teams brought home first place overall on Friday and fourth overall on Saturday.

Mat Dogs roar in comeback win at the Lions Den

The Mat Dogs who were down 30-0 on Tuesday, roared back to capture a big win in Franklin County. “We traveled to Franklin County and had the opportunity to wrestle Franklin County and Stephens County,” Mat Dogs head coach Sean Gaddy said.

Dogs basketball teams split against Elbert and Daniel

Hart County’s basketball teams traveled to Elbert County to take on the Blue Devils on Tuesday in the sold out Inferno, with the girls falling, 68-44 and the boys winning big, 69-45. The 2-4 Lady Dogs started things off as they took on the defending AA state champion Lady Blue Devils.

Edwards goes from player to coach

Ben Edwards has now played and coached for both Emmanuel College and Hart County. After Edwards finished his final season with the Dogs, he committed to play basketball for the Emmanuel College Lions.

Johnson looks to step up as senior

Tahj Johnson’s decorated career in the orange and black, which included dunking in middle school and making an appearance in the Final Four, is coming to an end.

Mat Dogs scramble at North Oconee

The Mat Dogs traveled to North Oconee High School in Bogart, Georgia on Wednesday, Nov. 23 for the Titans Scramble. “We got to see Monroe Area, North Oconee, Elbert, and Social Circle, which are all good programs,” head coach Sean Gaddy said.
