Lady Dogs fall in first round

The Lady Dogs lost in the first round of the state playoffs to one of the top teams in Georgia. The Hart County girls basketball team traveled to Fort Oglethorpe to play the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors. The Warriors have a 28-1 record and are ranked as the top team in Georgia 3A by MaxPreps.

Diamond Dogs break losing streak at home

The Diamond Dogs snapped a five-game losing streak at home on Tuesday. The Hart County High School baseball team traveled to Athens Christian on Wednesday, Feb. 23 and lost, 9-1. Jake Dombrowsky pitched 3.2 innings for the Dogs and Reece Maxwell pitched 2.1 innings.

Soccer Dogs fall in first region match

Both soccer teams won decidedly on Friday before struggling in their first region game on Tuesday. The boys soccer team beat Westside High School in Augusta, 7-1, on Feb. 25. Axsel Fajardo scored a hat trick in the win. Freshman Chaston Lewis scored two goals.

Bulldogs go home after Sweet 16 loss on the road

The Hart County boys basketball team’s season ended in the second round of the state playoffs. On Wednesday, Feb. 23, the Bulldogs traveled to Adairsville where they won the first round of the playoffs, 54-49.

Soccer teams undefeated this week

Both Hart County soccer teams followed up a win last week with a tie on Tuesday. The boys team hosted the Rabun County Wildcats on Friday, Feb. 18, and won, 3-0. Kyle Hubbard, Jeremiah Jones and KJ Wharton each recorded goals with Axsel Fajardo contributing an assist.

Tennis teams lose to Elbert

The Hart County Tennis teams both lost, 3-2, to Elbert County on Feb. 17. For the boys, No. 1 singles player Daniel Leard won with match decidedly in two sets, 6-0 in both. The No. 2 doubles team, Duncan McDuffie and Ayden Mercer, also won their match in the same manner.

Lady Dogs fall to fourth after two losses in tournament

After losing both games in the region tournament, the Hart County girls basketball team will have to find success on the road in the state playoffs. The Lady Dogs’ second place finish in region put them against Oconee County in the semifinals on Feb. 16.

Teen survives race day wreck: Dad: ‘She was ready to get back in the car that night’

A scary accident at Lavonia Speedway involving a 16-year-old on Saturday, Feb. 19 thankfully ended without major injuries or tragedy. Kaylee Worley, 16, from Gaffney, SC was on the checkered flag lap when she passed out due to a medical issue, according to her father Seth Worley.
