Some moments meant to be remembered

As anyone who has ever read any of my little pieces can attest, I sometimes wax philosophical with a sprinkling of nostalgia.

Youth have good idea for Hartwell

A group of enterprising high school students from Hart County made a suggestion recently with which we are wholly on board. The 2020 class of Leadership Hart Youth asked for the Hartwell City Council’s help earlier this month in attracting a movie theater to town.

Where Hartwell and Mayberry meet

I have been married almost 50 years to the same woman. In all that time I have never understood how she always wears out the front tires on her car first. I finally decided I’d better get a new set for her before she went out on another great shopping adventure.

We’re lucky to live in a beautiful place

I don’t know about you, but for me, the wet weather we have had this new year is getting old. A rainy day here and there with some sun in between is bearable. Weeks at a time with nothing but rainy days quickly grows tiresome.

Reunion will show changes of 20 years

I ’m not old. In March I will be 38, which is getting dangerously close to 40, but I can still say I am in my 30s.  An event this year, though, is definitely sinking in to my brain and giving me the impression that I am indeed aging.

2019 was a good one for Hartwell

What a year 2019 has been.  Even though it is as sure to happen as death and taxes, the holiday season always seems to creep up and surprise us.  It’s as if New Year’s Day shifts right into Christmas and everything in between happened in an instant.

Ballet made great Christmas memory

I had two new experiences this past Saturday in Atlanta.  One — I actually attended a live ballet, something I have had very little interest in my entire life.  Two — I went to The Fabulous Fox Theater, something I certainly never tried to avoid, but just had never done.
