John Clark Stilts "Jack" passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Upper Chesapeake Hospital. He was the husband of Karen Eileen Stilts for 55 years. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late John Moore Stilts and Ethel Margareta Stilts.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his daughter, Jeanette Carol Shorey and grandsons John "Devin" Shorey and Taylor Alan Shorey, his daughter Denise Lynn Abreu, husband Boris Raul Abreu and grandsons Boris Alexander, Shane Richard, and Jack Christian, his daughter Susan Marie Collins, husband Robert William Collins and grandchildren Patrick John, Maren Lynn, Cassian James, and Luke Robert, and daughter Krista Ashley Wilkinson and husband Brian Clinton Wilkinson and grandchildren Ashlyn Marie and Finn Stilts. He was preceded in death by Edith Bennett.
Upon graduation from Langley High School, Jack spent two years in the Army as a Paratrooper for the 173rd Airborne Division. Following his release from the army, Jack spent three years at The University of Pittsburgh studying business. Following his college classes, Jack was a life-time salesman, employed by Anaconda Aluminum, Inc. and Kiefer Glass. He owned his own company, Eastern Glass, and spent the remainder of his sales career with Besam Glass and Carolina Doors.
Jack's wishes were to be cremated. There was a celebration of life Mass at St. Ignatius Hilltop Catholic Church, 6455 Port Tobacco Road Port Tobacco, Md., at 11 a.m. Monday, November 25. In addition, Jack will be celebrated at Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell, at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5.
The Stilts family would like to thank Tugaloo Home Health Amedisys Company in Hartwell, for their support and loving care of Jack during his battle with Parkinson's Disease.
